Memorial website in the memory of your loved one
This memorial website was created in the memory of, Skyla Brooks who was born in Oklahoma on June 05, 1998 and passed away on March 21, 2000 at the age of 21 months. She will forever be in our hearts.
Her grandmother knew Skyla was in danger and tried in vain to save her. "They let me hold her before she died," said Robyn Brooks, Skyla's paternal grandmother. "I sang three of her favorite nursery songs to her before she passed away in my arms."

Skyla's Story
Skyla Brooks never had a gentle hand to hold. She never knew a kind face to laugh with her, or a soft lullaby sung as she drifted to sleep...instead she knew only pain and fear, suffered at the hands of those that should have loved her most. On March 21st 2000, little Skyla succumbed to vicious injuries inflicted by her mother's boyfriend. Her tiny body was covered in human bite marks, broken bones, bruises and cigarette burns. She had also been sexually assaulted. Skyla surely looked to her mother for help, but instead of saving her 21 month old little girl, she stood by and allowed Skyla to endure the brutal abuse that finally ended her life. Skyla's grandmother was aware of the abuse she was suffering, and fought hard to save her. In the end, she had to say goodbye anyway. Please help to remember Skyla and light a candle for her...let this little angel know that she will not be forgotten!

Also, please take a moment to visit the memorial pages of two other little angels...Kelsey Briggs and Tessa Leadford!
A poem for Skyla

I am a quite summer's evening...
fireflies glittering on the lawn,
I am the dark, silent night,
And the sunrise at dawn.
I am the calm in your heart that you feel when you pray,
And the sun peeking out on an otherwise cloudy day.
I am the fields of wildflowers that return every spring...
I am each happy memory, and the smiles that they bring.
I am the welcomed cool breeze on a hot afternoon...
The wonder of a shooting star,
And the soft glow of the moon.
I am autumn's changing leaves,
and the whippoorwhill's call...
I am the stillness of winter,
And it's gentle snowfall.
I am the laughter of children playing...
Faces turned up to the sun,
Remember these moments,
For I live on inside each one.

Tiny Angel

Tiny Angel
Tiny Angel rest your wings
sit with me for awhile.
How I long to hold your hand,
And see your tender smile.
Tiny Angel, look at me,
I want this image clear....
That I will forget your precious face
Is my biggest fear.
Tiny Angel can you tell me,
Why you have gone away?
You weren't here for very long....
Why is it, you couldn't stay?
Tiny Angel shook her head,
"These things I do not know....
But I do know that you love me,
And that I love you so".
